Richard the Lionheart Shield Magnet
Richard I was king of England from 1189-99. He was the third of five sons of King Henry II of England and Duchess Eleanor of Aquitaine. He was known as Richard Cœur de Lion or Richard the Lionheart because of his reputation as a great military leader and warrior. Richard was a central Christian commander during the Third Crusade and scored considerable victories against his Muslim counterpart, Saladin, although he failed to re-take Jerusalem. He remains one of the few kings of England who is remembered by his epithet, rather than a regnal number and is an enduring iconic figure both in England and in France.
Our Richard the Lionheart shield magnet is a product of the world-famous Art Gladius factory in the historic sword manufacturing city of Toledo, Spain. The magnet is made from stainless steel and has a small magnet stuck to the reverse of the shield.
