Product Questions

Do I need a licence to purchase a sword or other weaponry from your site?

UK Law does not require you to have a license to purchase or own a sword. All of the weaponry on our site is legal within the UK. If you are ordering from overseas it is best to check with your local law enforcement office before placing your order.

The only items that we sell that require you to be a member of a martial arts club or theatrical body are swords with curved blades that are not made in the traditional manner. The only swords that we sell that fall into this category are Japanese Iaito which have stainless steel blades.

Although these items are legal to own, they are not legal to be carried in public places without good reason – such as a re-enactment event where you are a participant etc. If in doubt, check with your local law enforcement office.

Are your Samurai Swords legal?

All of the samurai swords (katanas) listed on our site are made in a traditional manner and are therefore 100% legal to purchase and own.

Can I legally purchase your replica firearms?

The vast majority of the replica firearms listed on our site are non-firing replicas from before 1870 and are completely legal to purchase and own. We do sell a few post 1870 replicas that can only be purchased if you meet the specific criteria shown on the product page.

How old do I have to be to purchase your products?

Most items on our site can be bought by people of any age. UK Law forbids the sale of weapons or alcohol to persons under the age of 18. As such we are unable to sell either of these items to those people lucky enough to be under the age of 18. It is NOT illegal for somebody under the age of 18 to own a weapon, just illegal for us to sell them one. Parents or generous relations are welcome to purchase these items for persons under the age of 18 but we do remind you that these items can maim or kill so caution is advised.

What is a “weapon”?

Any item on our site that can cause injury or death is classed as a weapon. Yes, we know that you cause injury with a plastic or wooden sword etc. In general anything made of steel and pointy, sharp or designed to club people will be restricted to sale to people over the age of 18 only. Projectile weapons such as crossbows are also restricted in the same way.

Is your range of swords and armour suitable for re-enactment?

Certain items in our range are designed with this express purpose. They will be clearly marked as being so. As a rule if the item does not say it is suitable for re-enactment, then it isn't.

If I purchase an item of clothing and it does not fit, can I return/replace it?

You are welcome to return all products to us in their original condition for a full refund. We can arrange to have the item collected from you but we do charge for this service. We do not cover the postage costs for sending a replacement item to you. See our Easy Returns and Returns Policy pages for details.

Would you be interested in purchasing my sword?

Unfortunately we don’t purchase second-hand goods. It can be a little tricky to sell used swords as platforms such as eBay won’t allow you to list them. We would recommend you check out Facebook groups such as “Swords for Sale UK” where there are many people actively looking to purchase second hand swords.
