Viking Dragon Axe
The battle axes of the High Middle Ages that were preferred by the Vikings are probably advanced developments of Frankish throwing axes. Their blades have straight upper edges, while the sharp edges were usually curved toward the handle. Their handles were too long to throw; instead, they were used in close combat with shields. This Viking battle axe has a blade of hand forged carbon steel which is fastened to a hardwood handle. Both sides of the blade are etched with a decorative Celtic knot pattern that features a dragon's head.
