This sword is a replica of the sword used by Balian in the epic movie Kingdom of Heaven. It is now out of license but identical to the original officially licensed sword and produced by the same manufacturer.

Spanning from the end of the 11th to the 15th century, the battle for the Holy Land was one of the most relentless realities of the Middle Ages. Throughout the crusades, large parts of the Middle East ended up in the hands of European rulers and Jerusalem became a crusader state.

This changed literally overnight in the fateful Battle of Hattin. In 1887 thanks to clever tactics, the legendary Sultan Saladin's troops crushed the Christian army, winning back dozens of Christian states and strongholds, including Jerusalem. Balian of Ibelin was one of the few Christian nobles who survived the Battle of Hattin.

With a fuller at 66 cm long and cross-shaped decoration, this Battle of Hattin sword is a typical crusader bastard sword. A translucent red cross is embedded in the octagonal pommel. "MXCIX - DEUS LO VULT" is engraved around the cross which is Latin for the year 1099 when Jerusalem was conquered and the crusaders' motto: God wills it.
