On 22th July of 1361 Valdemar IV of Denmark sent a group of armed men to Gotland coast. Poorly armed locals didn´t stand a chance against Valdemar´s invading troops. Archaeological remains of this battle have been described as "one of the most fearsome revelations of a medieval battle known to archaeologists". There are many studies about the armour used in this battle due to the large amount of pieces found on the bodies buried in the mass graves. Brigandines offer protection equivalent to that of a cuirass but allow more flexibility because of the superposition of bands along a textile or leather body. This brigandine model (aka Type I) is possibly one of the most popular and well known among the pieces used on Wisby battlefield. This item is popular with reenactors and is great for re-enactment.

Made of highest quality 2,5mm leather and 18 gauge steel. Leather and steel thickness, and colour shade may vary from item to item due to handcrafted manufacturing and the use of traditional inks.

It may have small marks on its surface, imperfections or won´t be 100% homogeneous. Roughness and colour may vary from piece to piece. The dying process is performed using traditional techniques so final colour may vary depending on leather´s original tone.
