The Great Bascinet differs from Hounskull and Pigface Bascinets in that the throat is protected by a plate gorget instead of a chainmail aventail. This style of Great Bascinet dates from 1400-1450 and is similar to those displayed in museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Our skull of our Great Bascinet is constructed from 12 gauge steel making is incredibly durable. The rest of the helmet is constructed from 14 gauge steel. It features a well-padded adjustable liner and buckled leather chin strap. The visor can be easily removed if required by removing the fixing pins. Perfect for re-enactment.
